Hello everybody! We are back with new adventures to share. This blog is about our trip to Mexico City and all the exciting things we got to learn and discover!
We left Guanajuato super early in the morning heading to our first stop: The Pyramids of Teotihuacán.
After all that walking we ate at this fabulous restaurant which is inside a cave, yes, A CAVE :)
In the restaurant we got to try delicious dishes inspired in pre-hispanic cuisine.
Fact: Mexican Cuisine is one of the few in Latin America that strongly preserves its pre-Hispanic heritage. Elements like the -escamoles- (ant's eggs)which is also known as Mexican caviar is a delicacy and is a truly special treat to have.
On the second day we explored the historic center of Mexico City. We visited the Palacio de Bellas Artes where we got to see many murals painted by famous Mexican artists such as Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros.
After the Palacio de Bellas Artes we walked a bit more around the city center.
Daniel took us to a part in Mexico City where there are a lot of traditional restaurants from the state of Oaxaca. There, we tried (for the first time) the Tlayudas, which is a thin, hard tortilla spread with black beans and different toppings like chorizo, steak or marinated meat.
After some more walking, naturally we got a bit thirsty, so we stopped at a traditional -cantina- where we had a couple of small beers :)
